Basic Stripe Overlays

It is a glorious Monday! And for me to say that, it’s got to be a beautiful day!

I am supposed to be on vacation in Germany right now, but our flight of last Friday was canceled due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland. We had a few days to anticipate that is what would happen, so when we were actually told the flight was canceled, we were’t surprised. Still, very disappointing! Oh, well, next year, right?

So I’ve taken this “free” time to make up a few fun things!

Today I have some Basic Stripe Overlays for you!

If you have never played around with Overlays, you don’t know what you’re missing!

You can change the look of the overlay by applying various blending options, by lowering the opacity, and/or by combining the overlay with other overlays, textures, or papers. One overlay can give your paper limitless looks!

A New Day

Greetings! And a Happy New Year to us all! The first day of this new year started out great! Our 6 year old granddaughter and 8 year old grandson spent the night with us, so we woke up to see their smiling faces this morning. Of course, they were delighted because at our house, they get to choose all their meals. And on "holidays" (like today!) all rules go out the window. So today their breakfast consisted of, by their choice, ice cream, potato chips, orange danish, and bacon. When I said I needed to take a photo to show Mommy, little Emily (age 6) said, "Oh, Mommy is NOT going to like this!" =) (Well, she didn't know that Mommy had already given her approval. I'm not a totally "bad" Grandma. I had asked Mom's permission prior to the visit!). Anyway, I hope your day is peaceful, fun, and relaxing - just the way to start out a new year!

Did everyone have a nice Christmas? We had the greatest Christmas Eve service at our church, followed by a fun time with our family at a local restaurant. Then we spent Christmas day at our daughter's house and had so much fun watching our 6 year old and 8 year old grandchildren opening their gifts! Don't you just love the spirit and excitement of children? And now all that is left for us to do in this year is finish eating all the goodies given to us by friends, family, and neighbors. How about you? Are you staring at a pile of cookies wondering just how many calories you are willing to spend on them? I know I am! Let it Snow

Good evening! I've been under the weather the past week, but hopefully am on the upswing now. These winter colds just seem to like to hang around! My husband was in Arizona last week and was talking about how lovely the snow was. Living in Southern California we only have to drive an hour or so to be in the mountains, but it's been several years since we've been up in the snow. Winter Frost

Hello! While I don't have Winter Frost in my front yard, I do currently have rain. It is cold, windy, and rainy - just the sort of day to stay inside. I might have actually enjoyed being in all day if I wasn't fighting a cold. Well, actually the cold won, and I'm just trying to recooperate from the fight. =) I did play around a bit today and finished my word art, which coordinates with Katie's new kit Winter Frost. I love the colors and the bling in the kit, so it was sooooo much fun to work with. Today I designed some Christmas bulbs, which you will not find in the word art OR the kit. Have you picked out your Christmas tree yet? I drove by a Christmas tree lot today and saw several people browsing for that PERFECT tree! It reminded me of the many times that we visited tree lots with our own children and how important it was to find that very special tree, meant JUST for US! I also remember how there were times when the tree that I wanted was out of my price range, but it didn't matter to our little ones what kind of tree it was, how much it cost, or how big it was! Whatever tree we picked was "their" tree, and that's all that mattered! You can pick up my word art that commemorates this concept HERE. Hi all! I hope your day was better than mine! Yesterday I realized that my auto license renewal had not come in the mail yet... but WAIT! It was even overdue - and I had not received a statement for it!! Well, after 3.5 hours in the "wait" line at the DMV, a five minute (yes, 5 minute!!) transaction, and a hefty late penalty... I left with a current registration, a lighter wallet, and only one thing on my mind....get home and do something FUN! I have recently had the pleasure of working with a kit entitled "Autumn Hues" by Creations by Rachael. This is an awesome kit, which contains numerous unique elements. I love the colors Rachael used, and the papers are incredibly creative. (You can tell I'm in love with this kit, right?) Hello! I hope you all had a relaxing day. I've spent most of the day in front of my computer, but I did venture out to watch my 6 year old granddaughter, Emily, play soccer. Her soccer team is named "Pinkalicious." Doesn't that sound like it totally needs a scrapbook kit to go with it? Love that name! But I've still got my mind on the little tiny tots from Katie's Merry Christmas Little Ones kit. I made some cute flair buttons to compliment both her kit and my word art for it. I love nature! The other day I was in the park, photographing things of interest to me. I took multiple pictures of some tree trunks that I simply found fascinating in color. Some of the trees had white bark with green moss growing on them, and these were especially interesting to me. I took those photographs and created an alpha with them. Several weeks ago, when I was privately bemoaning the oncoming hot weather we were beginning to see here in Southern California, I wished that Spring would just have "one last hurrah" before surrending completely to the Summer. Since I couldn't do anything to stop the march of the seasons, I created a page kit, which I entitled "One Last Hurrah." This kit contains 13 papers, over 50 elements, and 5 complete alphabets. So... has anyone noticed my Life in a Bottle series gong on over at Gotta Pixel? I am taking one letter every week, beginning with the letter A (of course!), and working my way through the alphabet, focusing on certain characteristics and attitudes of daily life. We are on letter "E" this week (although that has yet to be released). For those of you who are new to the series, you can find letters A through D currently available in the store. Hi ya-all! My greeting is directly related to todays new product! My Scarecrow Alpha has just been released, and these little guys take me back to days on my grandparents farm, hayrides in the cold night air, and square dances. Ahhh... the good life! Happy Labor Day! I hope you all enjoyed the day with your loved ones and the only labor you engaged in was the labor of fun and good times. I enjoyed lunch out with my hubby, then we went to our favorite bookstore to browse. A quiet day, which was good! DH is a runner, and ran yet another 1/2 marathon this weekend. Although it doesn't look like a lot of "fun" to me, I give him and all the other runners the highest degree of respect. Today I created some word art for the sports minded. Good Evening! We had a fun day with our two grandchildren, doing some last minute school shopping, swimming, dinner, and ice cream sundaes. I hope you enjoyed your Sunday as well. I did finish my Fall Favorites alpha, as well as a frame that coordinates with the alpha. Here is a preview of the alpha, which is available at Gotta Pixel. This small preview doesn't really allow you to see that the text on the alpha is made up of many "favorites" from Fall - like cinnamon, windy days, pumpkin pie, and candied apples! The edging reminds me of gold leaves. Be sure to check it out at Gotta Pixel for a better look! And don't forget to pick up your free frame (link expired).

Good evening! Tonight I have a complete alpha for you! It is called Pink Daisy Smile. It is a clear acrylic alpha, with pink flowers on it. Wow! It sure is unusually hot here for Southern California! It was 105 today, and is now resting "comfortably" at 95 degrees at 5:30 PM. I am definitely not made for this weather! I hope you are enjoying your climate, wherever you are.

Great news! My store is now “live” at Gotta Pixel. I am so excited to be in the company of such talented ladies. I will be selling my custom font service in the store, as well as some awesome, handwritten fonts. There are currently two Kids fonts currently available. They are definitely fun to use in journaling, especially when relating stories from your child’s point of view! And, of course, you can always get your own printing turned into a font! Congratulations to ABritsWife for winning the Free Font Service Contest that Gotta Pixel ran over the weekend. And looking forward - be on the lookout for my series entitled “The ABC’s of Life” to launch at Gotta Pixel within the next week or so. This series will focus on word art associated with some of the challenges, joys, and experiences of life. The first week will see the release of the letter “A” and the word art will highlight: Ability, Achievement, Action, Attitude, Age, and Adventure. Can you guess which letter will be next? =)

After scrapbooking traditionally for years, I ventured into the world of digital scrapping in May of 2008. While I love this new art form, I also missed seeing my journaling in my own handwriting - as wobbly as it sometimes is! And so I learned to create a TrueType Font from my very own printing. I now use “my own font” regularly in both my digital and paper scrapbooks. In addition, I have preserved the adorable, shaky, sometimes-backward-letters of the precious first-grader in my life! There are soooo many ways to use your own font! Personalize your scrapbook pages (whether digital or paper) with your own printing. Use your font to write Christmas letters, create advertisements, or use on flyers. Give the service as a gift!

I would love to create a font of your own hand printing! Because your font will be a TrueType Font, you can use it in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Notepad or any other Windows application. It is also compatible with those of you who proudly use a Mac!
